Im considering applying to be a Helicopter pilot in the Army.  For those in the know, please tell me a bit about life as an Army pilot.

One of my greatest concerns is that I have a 2yr old daughter, how often would I be able to see her?

The most difficult issue for all military families is separation. The Army will help you with these issues... it is those left behind that will need the support also to make sure they understand what you... the soldier are enduring. Children adapt, communication is the key. The internet provides good opportunities for verbal and visual communications for our soldiers. If you choose to serve and qualify to be a pilot, always remember, you are the angel in the sky for those boots on the ground.... who may have children at home too.

How is that possible? I am a former navy pilot with 360hrs in helicopter....bell206 and UH1NAB212
there is any other way to find a job other than CFI?
I know the requirements for companies are at least 1000hrs...but i am military trained and all turbine time...is quantity of the hrs more important than quality?

Insurance companies go by total hours (read expereince). Ufortunately it doesnt ask if you were flying the traffic pattern for 1000 hrs or flying tactical or commercial ops for 800hrs. Its all about the statistics and they driver the hour requirements.

build that time however you can.

I spent 14 years in the Army flying Hueys and Hawks, and the only time I have ever heard "MP" used is to refer to a Maintenance Pilot or Military Police...What the heck is a "Mission Pilot"?
